The Book of Common Praise (Canada), 1938
From Oremus Hymnal
This is the revised edition of the official hymn book for the whole of The Church of England in Canada (later Anglican Church of Canada). Most editions say The Hymn Book on their spine and cover, but the title is as given above. This hymnal is one of three still in common use in Canada, the others being the 1971 and the 1998 hymnals.

Come, ye yourselves apart and rest awhile
Jesus, grant me this, I pray
Revive thy work, O Lord
The Cross
Must Jesus bear the Cross alone
Lord Jesus, when we stand afar
In the Cross of Christ I glory
Take up thy cross, the Savior said
The head that once was crowned with thorns
Thou art the way: to thee alone
O Savior, may we never rest
When I survey the wondrous Cross
We sing the praise of him who died
Into the woods thy Master went
My song is love unknown
God in Nature
God who touchest earth with beauty
For the beauty of the earth
Summer suns are glowing
This is my Father's world
All beautiful the march of days
The spacious firmament on high
There is a book, who runs may read
Fairest Lord Jesus, ruler of all nature
Into the heart of the wildwood
Communion of Saints and Life Everlasting
Jesus lives! thy terrors now
Jesus, these eyes have never seen
Jerusalem on high
O mother dear, Jerusalem
Jerusalem, my happy home
Let saints on earth in concert sing
A few more years shall roll
O what their joy and their glory must be
Where the Light for ever shineth
There is a blessed home
Lo, round the throne, a glorious band
Pleasant are thy courts above
Glorious things of thee are spoken
Palms of glory, raiment bright
There is a land of pure delight
Now the laborer's task is o'er
For ever with the Lord
There is no night in heaven
City of God, how broad and far
Hush! blessed are the dead
Brief life is here our portion
Jerusalem the golden
Light's abode, celestial Salem
Ten thousand times ten thousand
I heard the sound of voices
Those eternal bowers
O valiant hearts, who to your glory came
They whose course on earth is o'er
For Youth
Lord of all hopefulness, Lord of all joy
O Jesus, strong and pure and true
Work, for the night is coming
Stars of evening
Youth of the world, arise
Shepherd of eager youth
I would be true
O Son of Man, our hero strong and tender
Yield not to temptation
God send us men
i Father in heaven, who lovest all
ii Land of our birth, we pledge to thee
O Son of Man, who walked each day
Just as I am, thine own to be
O Master Workman of the race
Day is dying in the west
Christian Service
O brother man, fold to thy heart
O Savior, when we have no work
Once to every man and nation
They who tread the path of labor
Ring out the grief
Where cross the crowded ways of life
And did those feet in ancient time
Rise up, O men of God
Lift up your hearts! We lift them, Lord, to thee
Lord of the strong
Judge eternal, throned in splendor
Chiefly for Personal Use
Immortal love for ever full
In full and glad surrender
Lord, it belongs not to my care
Let me be with thee where thou art
My God, I love thee; not because
My God, I thank thee, who hast made
One sweetly solemn thought
O Paradise, O Paradise
The sands of time are sinking
Father, to thee I come
Lord, for tomorrow and its needs
When on my day of life
Break thou the bread of life
On the resurrection morning
What do I owe
O Love that wilt not let me go
Christ, I am Christ's

Come, sing with holy gladness
The wise may bring their learning
Infant holy, Infant lowly
When mothers of Salem
The ships glide in
In the bleak midwinter
One there is above all others, o, how he loves
I think when I read that sweet story
Tell me the stories of Jesus
Can a little child like me
Jesus, tender Shepherd, hear me
Heavenly Father, send thy blessing
Loving Shepherd of thy sheep
Savior, teach me day by day
